Is it safe for me?

Levonelle® One Step emergency contraception (a morning after pill) has been extensively researched among women all over the world. The hormone levonorgestrel, which is the active ingredient in Levonelle® One Step has been used in the contraceptive pill for a number of years but is at a higher dose than in the contraceptive pill.

Most women can use Levonelle® One Step without any problem (although it's important to bear in mind that although most people won't experience them, no medicine is side effect free).

Levonelle® One Step should not replace regular, long-term contraception. Emergency contraception and advice on contraception is available free from your GP, Family Planning Clinic or NHS Walk-in Centre. Always read the label. Contains levonorgestrel. Not 100% effective. Levonelle® One Step can be used for up to 72 hours after unprotected sex, but it's more effective the sooner you take it.
