Can other medications affect Levonelle One Step®?

There are some medicines which may interact with Levonelle One Step® and reduce its effectiveness. You should always tell your pharmacist or doctor if you are taking any medicines or herbal remedies.

Some of the medicines which may interact with Levonelle One Step® are listed below:

  • Barbiturates and other medicines used to treat epilepsy such as primidone, phenytoin and carbamazepine
  • Medicines used to treat TB such as rifampicin, rifabutin
  • Ritonavir - a treatment for HIV infection
  • Griseofulvin - a medicine for fungal infections
  • Herbal remedies containing St John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum)
  • Cyclosporin (used to suppress the immune system)

In some cases, it will be possible to take Levonelle One Step®, provided you have spoken to your doctor, family planning clinic or pharmacist first.
